This site accompanies its visitors in a journey into the Quran. It aims to help them to understand its message so they can benefit from its lights. before our journey with the Qur'an begins, it is important to highlight some important information about the text.
Before the creation of mankind on earth, before the creation of the heavens and earth, Allah created His Mighty Throne (al-Arsh), and ordered the Pen(al-Qalam) to write every thing, small or big, that will take place in this life and also in the hereafter in the Preserved tablet (al-Lawhul-mahfoodh); of course this also includes the Qur'an. So, in other words, the Qur'an is there even before the creation of mankind, not just that, it existed before the creation of the seven heavens and the earth.
It is interesting to note that surat al-Rahmaan starts by mentioning that Allah, al-Rahmaan, the almighty made the Quran known, then created man. this facts is very important in refuting the false accusations, which claim that the Quranic laws are out of date in our century. It is clear, that details of every thing that occur on earth even before its creation have been well known, as well the laws to regulate and govern mankind since the seventh century till the end of life on earth have been formulated by God the most wise the most knowledgeable. they are not designed by a human at any period of time, rather they are put to mankind by the One who made the laws that govern and control running the heavens and earth. So, there must be no fault in the guidance and rules set to us in the Qur'an.
Second interesting point regarding the Qur'an, is that it was descended at first as a whole to a place in the lowest heaven known as 'Baytul-Izzah' the house of honour. There, this copy is guarded by special angels called 'al-safarah al-Kiraam al-bararah. So, no devil can approach it or reach to this copy. In other words, this copy is protected by Allah.
However, this descent was during the night of al-Qadre, which was one of the nights of the month of Ramadan. It occurred in a ceremony of angels headed by the Arch Angel Jabriel. This has been described in surat-al-Qadre: "it is We who have descended it, the Qur'an, in the night of al-Qadre. And do you know what the night of al-Qadre is? Laylatul-Qadre is better than one thousand nights; in it angels and the Spirit, Jibriel, are descended by permission from their Lord on every task. Peace, that night is until the break of dawn."
As appears, the night during which this descent of the Quran took place has been given a special status that distinguishes it from all other nights of the year. This shows the great status the Quran has. This also shows how Allah has honoured mankind and how He is caring for them!
The last descent of the Quran, occurred also in a Ramadan, may be this was also during the night of al-Qadre. and this was the start of the revelation to the prophet may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him when he was meditating in Thaor cave, which marked the start of his prophet hood. but, this time the descent was only of the first few verses of surat al-Alaq. Then the rest of the Quran was revealed as peace meals over about 22-23 years.
Now let us start our journey through the Quran by studying surat al-Fatihah, the Opening.
